Ars Longa, Flora Brevis: The Poetry Lover’s Garden inspires beautiful art

Artist Anne-Marie Butlin was so moved by my Poetry Lover's Garden at Chelsea 2017 that she made a series of stunning oil paintings which transform the ephemerality of the show garden into permanent artistic life, blending poetry, horticulture and painting. Like This Lime Tree Bower My Prison, the Coleridge poem on which my garden is based, her work gives us “the chance to contemplate and meditate, and remember our connection with the natural world”.
